Following numerous requests, Yema is working on a GMT version of the iconic Superman Heritage.
From travellers to divers and all those in between, we aim at an original design building upon the iconic Superman Heritage model. We are looking at preserving the vintage toolwatch aspect and the professional divers features of the original Superman.
GMT functionality would be added by a rock solid Swiss movement and be made visual via a customised GMT bezel and a GMT hand.
The original case of the Superman Heritage will be brushed for an elegant look. Steel and leather bands exclusive to the GMT model are to be proposed.

SUPERMAN HERITAGE GMT: A SUCCESSFUL COLLABORATION
Thanks to all of you the Superman Heritage GMT Co-Labs project is now a reality!
After several months of work, from designing to prototyping, YEMA is pleased to introduce the Superman Heritage GMT.
This new Superman GMT is inspired by the original Superman 53 00 16 from the 1970s and the Superman Heritage with its round markers, case, and bezel.
Following your votes and comments, we selected 3 different bezels to dress up this brand new Superman GMT. Traditional colors with the Pepsi and Coke bezel, and a more innovative one in Blue/Grey. These bezels will be made of aluminum, the same material as the original Superman.
With its ability to show two different time zones, the latest model is equipped with a Swiss ETA 2893-2 movement, renowned for its reliability and sturdiness.
The Superman Heritage GMT comes with a 39mm case and “Oyster” bracelet made of brushed stainless steel. It’s divers extension reinforces the “toolwatch” aspect to please all globetrotters, whether they are divers, explorers, businessmen or simply travelers.
Yema’s emblematic Y logo is engraved on the crown and the caseback proudly displays YEMA’s historic crest beautifully embossed with a hydraulic press.
The Superman Heritage GMT will be available on pre-order on Yema.com as from 22nd July. To make this timepiece even more exclusive, each model will only be available in an ultra limited series of 100 numbered pieces.
Yema CoLabs and Yema Privilege members can in all exclusively secure their numbered edition right now through 24/7 online chat on Yema.com
FEBRUARY 26th, 2019 UPDATE
First, a warm THANK YOU to the 325 participants having left their feedback via the online form! We appreciate much the excitement and all constructive suggestions you have shared with us.
Let’s have a look at the results 🙂
1. GO / NO-GO
Looks like we’d make a lot of people happy if we go ahead with this model, a large majority would like to see a Superman Heritage GMT in production!
2. BEZEL MATERIAL
Among the bezel options, the preferred material is ceramic (voted by 41% of respondents) followed by aluminium. Sapphire, although original as a choice, hasn’t gained much support.
It is to be noted that if we were to privilege ceramic for the final product, this will be the first Superman ever having a ceramic bezel!
3. BEZEL DESIGN
Interestingly, we’ve got two distinct suggestions from all of you regarding the bezel colour choices:
• Half of you feel we should go for the classic Pepsi and Coke bezels
• The other half thinks we should privilege a more original bezel colour unique to this model
Below are the 4 most voted designs… Pepsi, Coke and Grey-Blue bezels got almost same number of votes followed closely by the Black bezel.
It’s not going to be easy to please everyone and unfortunately interchangeable inserts are not an option to us because of engineering, usability and long-term quality challenges. Instead we might evaluate going ahead with above 4 designs provided they pass the prototype user tests.
4. WATCH HANDS
In the initial design we replaced the iconic “shovel” seconds hand by a thiner one. We felt that some might perceive the dial a bit overcharged with the addition of a fourth (GMT) arrow-shaped hand. Following lots of requests we just can’t ignore, the “shovel” seconds hands is now back.
The classic GMT hand shape has received positive feedback. To enhance overall dial readability and for general aesthetics, we have changed the GMT hand from red to black colour.
5. NEXT STEPS
We are working on prototypes for above 4 models which we expect to share with all of you by April 2019. Stay tuned!
In the meantime please feel free to share your views at Yema CoLabs discussion group on Facebook!
